Why would he make his horcruxes such attention-grabbing objects? I know he was a ~flamboyant~ guy, but that was just a stupid move. If I was him, I would have made a grain of sand into a horcux and thrown it into the ocean. I can guarantee no one would ever find it. Ever.

Well, wouldn’t you rather put your soul into something that meant something to you rather than just a grain of sand? He never thought anyone would delve so far into his past to figure them out. He picked objects that meant something to him. It’s quite beautiful for a dark lord, actually.
